Teru Talk by Michael
Theroux (pronounced
"Terú")
Teru's Trash Talk
We're in
Boot Camp. Teru Talk, and
fourteen other start-ups,
are all in the
Entrepreneur's Showcase
Boot Camp, making it
through this grueling
gauntlet together, learning
what it means to take a Big
Idea from concept to full
roll-out. A great many of
you helped to put us here
by sending in your Votes
during the initial Campaign
and we thank you, assuming
of course, that we survive
this process.
But think
about it: we're all
Start-Ups, really. This is,
after all, an "emerging
field" and even the Giants
like Poet and Novozymes,
DSM and GE, are in start-up
mode every time they bring
out a new widget, and try
to bust open the Waste
Conversion marketplace with
a shiny new Big Idea. In
"Planet Earth Time", the
entire Human Race is only a
questionably-successful
Start-Up.
We are
all in this together. We
are all trying in our own
way to drive forward
"Teru-ly" integrated waste
management, recycling, and
resource recovery. The core
lessons should then apply
across the board, lessons
that enable us to jump the
early-stage development
chasm and get the right
tools out there in the
global marketplace. These
are lessons like
recognizing the value of
the key questions we all
need to be able to adroitly
answer, in about one
minute.
Who
are you? What do you do?
Why should anyone
care?
What do you
want?
(Ahem.
Here goes)
Teru Talk
is a Content Provider for
the Clean Tech marketplace.
We identify and track the
global companies, agencies,
institutions, and
associations that are
engaged in turning Garbage
to Goods, Waste to Wealth.
We are in the business of
matching the proper waste
conversion technologies to
society's most pressing
needs for resource
security, environmental
sanity, and local jobs. Now
we need outside Expertise
and Money to serve up that
Global Knowledge on a
global scale.
Here's another one of those
core lessons: Start-Ups
have to sell their Beliefs
before they can sell their
Products, and they have to
know a whole lot of those
Believers by Business
Launch time. We believe
that Everything is
Recyclable, with the Right
Tools, and after our
four year audition with all
of you who listen to our
Soap Box, and Get It:
this is how we can
know who, where, what, and
how we can cleanly convert
waste back to resources.
This is how we close
the loop of the global
Circular Economy. Welcome
aboard!
Hey
Rube!
What can be
more sustainable than diverting
stuff that would get dumped,
cleaning it up, taking it apart
if need be, and returning it to
that grand cycle of the global
marketplace? Every one of the
companies in our news items
this week are involved in some
part of that cycle. As you read
through their highlights, think
about ways you might be able to
apply their knowledge, their
methods and tools, to the
Resource Recovery challenges
you see around you. Then turn
it around and see if you can
address the Core Lessons we've
lain out from our Entrepreneurs
Boot Camp. You have one
minute.
